Lamine Yamal becomes first player under 20 to win both Euro and World Cup

Spain's teenage star Lamine Yamal has made football history after becoming the first player under the age of 20 to win both the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup following Spain's 1-0 victory over Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.

The 19-year-old Barcelona star achieved the remarkable feat after Spain defeated defending champions Argentina in extra time, with Ferran Torres scoring the decisive goal in the 106th minute to secure La Roja's second World Cup title in 16 years.

Yamal's latest success comes just two years after he starred in Spain's victorious UEFA Euro 2024 campaign. At just 17 years old, he became the youngest player to feature in and win a European Championship, earning the tournament's Young Player of the Tournament award for his outstanding performances.

By adding a FIFA World Cup winners' medal to his growing collection before the age of 20, Yamal has set a new benchmark in international football, becoming the first teenager ever to complete the prestigious Euro-World Cup double.

Widely regarded as one of football's brightest young talents, the Barcelona forward continues to rewrite the record books and further strengthen his reputation as one of the game's future superstars.
